An eFoil battery lasts somewhere between 45 minutes and two hours of riding, and where you land in that window depends on the battery in the board, your weight, and how you ride. Waydoo's Flyer EVO models quote up to 100 minutes for the Lite and up to 120 minutes for the Max Plus, Pro Plus and Master. Here is what sits behind those figures, and how to get the most out of every charge.

Treat these as ceilings, not promises. Waydoo's own product FAQ for the Pro Plus puts typical real-world sessions at 45 to 90+ minutes, and Fliteboard's guide says the same about the industry at large: most eFoil batteries deliver 60 to 90 minutes under average conditions. A 90-minute session on the water is a long session; most riders' legs give out before a healthy battery does.

What the Wh numbers mean

Battery capacity is measured in watt-hours. The Flyer EVO platform uses 1800Wh and 2300Wh packs, with the 2300Wh unit behind the 120-minute figures on the Plus and Master models. For context, Fliteboard notes that eFoil batteries across the market range from around 1,500Wh to just over 2,000Wh, so the EVO packs sit at the larger end of what is currently sold.

More watt-hours means more minutes, but it is not the whole story. The same 2300Wh pack lasts very different amounts of time depending on who is standing on the board and what they are doing with the throttle.

What drains a battery fastest

Takeoffs. Getting a board and rider up out of the water takes far more power than flying. A session full of falls and restarts, which is what learning looks like, drains the pack noticeably faster than a session spent flying. That is normal, and it improves quickly as your takeoffs do.

Full throttle. Drag rises steeply with speed. Cruising at a moderate pace can roughly double what sprinting everywhere gives you.

Conditions. Chop means more corrections, more touchdowns and more restarts, all of which cost energy.

What about range in kilometres?

eFoil makers quote minutes rather than kilometres, because distance depends entirely on the speed you hold. The arithmetic is straightforward: an hour of flying at a 25 km/h cruise covers 25 km of water. What matters for planning a coastal ride is simpler and safer: turn around comfortably before half the battery is gone, and treat the last quarter as reserve. Habits that stretch every session

  • Cruise, do not sprint. A moderate pace is the single biggest lever on ride time.
  • Learn takeoffs on calm water. Clean, efficient starts protect the battery as well as your confidence.
  • Store and charge sensibly. Lithium packs prefer moderate temperatures; avoid leaving a battery baking in a car boot between sessions.
  • Add a second battery rather than a second board. Because the Flyer EVO is modular, a spare pack swapped at the beach doubles your day on the water. It is a popular upgrade for exactly this reason.
