Searches for the Waydoo UniRide have climbed sharply since Waydoo announced it, and most of them are some version of the same question: what exactly is it, and how do you get one? In short: the UniRide is a modular electric paddleboard (eSUP) system built around one removable UniRide Core that drives five inflatable floats, and it is now open for pre-order on waydoo.tech. What the Waydoo UniRide is
The UniRide is built around the UniRide Core, which carries the drive and a 1.5 kWh battery. The core moves between floats: take it out of one board, fit it to another, and the same core powers a completely different kind of session.
Two design choices stand out. The first is the Retractable Magnetic Drive: propulsion stays powerful in the water and low-profile out of it. The second is the hot-swappable battery, which you can change in seconds, even on the water, rather than heading back to shore when a pack runs down.
One core, five ways to ride
The same core runs five floats:
- eSUP: the standard electric paddleboard, 330 cm long, for up to 2 riders and 180 kg.
- Explore eSUP: the long-distance touring board, 340 cm, for up to 2 riders and 270 kg.
- eKayak: a seated kayak, 325 cm, for 1 rider up to 150 kg.
- Compact board: a short 240 cm board for 1 rider up to 100 kg.
- eFoil: a hydrofoil float that lifts the board for flight over the water, for 1 rider up to 90 kg. It needs its own eFoil module alongside the core.
That range is the point of the system. Instead of buying one machine that does one thing, the core becomes the engine of a small fleet you can grow over time.
The published specs
- Top speed: up to 35 km/h in eFoil mode, and 16 to 20 km/h in the paddle modes.
- Runtime: up to 5 hours in eSUP and eKayak mode, up to 4 hours on the Explore eSUP, up to 2 hours on the compact board and up to 1 hour 20 minutes in eFoil mode.
- Battery: 1.5 kWh, hot-swappable, 9.1 kg.
- Drive: Retractable Magnetic Drive.
- Weight: from 24.3 kg to 32.4 kg fully assembled, depending on the float.
Runtime is measured with one 75 kg rider, at 6 km/h in the paddle modes and 12 km/h on the compact board and eFoil. Top speed is measured with one 75 kg rider in calm water. The full table per float is on the product page.
