Waydoo UniRide eFoil float with the eFoil Module on a wooden jetty

UniRide eFoil Mode or a Flyer EVO: Which eFoil Is Yours

UniRide eFoil Mode or a Flyer EVO: Which eFoil Is Yours

Waydoo now offers two ways to fly. The Flyer EVO is a dedicated eFoil, built for one job. The Waydoo UniRide has an eFoil setup as one of its five ways to ride. Both lift you above the water on a hydrofoil, but they are built for different riders and different weeks on the water. This guide compares them on the figures the store publishes.

What the UniRide eFoil setup is

The UniRide eFoil uses its own float, 165 x 60 x 15 cm, and the eFoil Module with its mast. The UniRide Core and the PowerFlight Battery 15, a 1.5 kWh pack, power it, the same as every other UniRide setup. It is a one-rider setup with a maximum payload of 90 kg. Waydoo publishes a top speed of up to 35 km/h for a 75 kg rider in calm water, and up to 1 hour 20 minutes of runtime at a 12 km/h cruise.

The eFoil only comes in the UniRide All-in-One Pack, together with the eSUP, Explore eSUP, eKayak and compact board floats. At the time of writing that pack costs €6,897. The eSUP Bundle does not include the eFoil.

What a Flyer EVO is

The Flyer EVO is a dedicated eFoil in four configurations. The Flyer EVO Lite pairs a 90 L EPP board with an 1800 Wh battery, a published top speed of about 36 km/h, up to 100 minutes of runtime and an ideal rider weight up to about 90 kg. It costs €5,807 at the time of writing. The Max Plus moves to a 130 L board, a 2300 Wh battery, about 45 km/h, up to 120 minutes and an ideal rider weight up to about 130 kg, at €6,999. Above them sit the Pro Plus at €7,033 and the Master at €9,546, which trade board volume for top speed. Our Flyer EVO comparison covers all four.

Rider weight decides first

The UniRide eFoil has a maximum payload of 90 kg. If you or anyone who will fly it is heavier, the Flyer EVO is the answer, and the Max Plus pairs that higher allowance with the most board volume in the range. Our guide to eFoil weight limits explains why volume matters most when you are learning.

What you want from the week decides second

If flying is your sport and you want the longest sessions, a dedicated eFoil gives you more runtime per charge, a choice of boards and a path from a stable first board to a faster one. If flying is one activity among several, the All-in-One Pack puts an eFoil and four paddling setups on one Core: a family can paddle, kayak and fly from the same kit, and buy the power system once. Neither is a compromise for the rider it fits. The mistake is buying the UniRide for flying alone, or a Flyer EVO when most of the household wants to paddle.

Before your first flight

Whichever you choose, eFoiling is learned over a few sessions. Read how hard eFoiling is to learn and check the rules where you plan to ride. If you want to feel a Flyer EVO before you buy one, Waydoo dealers across Europe offer demos; our demo and dealer guide explains how it works. For the package choice on the UniRide side, see eSUP Bundle or All-in-One Pack.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can the Waydoo UniRide fly as an eFoil?

Yes. With the eFoil float and the eFoil Module, both in the UniRide All-in-One Pack, the UniRide becomes an eFoil for one rider up to 90 kg. Waydoo publishes a top speed of up to 35 km/h for a 75 kg rider and up to 1 hour 20 minutes of runtime at a 12 km/h cruise.

Which eFoil suits a rider over 90 kg?

The UniRide eFoil setup has a maximum payload of 90 kg. The Flyer EVO Max Plus and Pro Plus list an ideal rider weight of up to about 130 kg, and the Max Plus does it on a 130 L board, which gives the most volume in the Flyer EVO range.

Does the UniRide eSUP Bundle include the eFoil?

No. The eSUP Bundle has the eSUP float only. The eFoil float and eFoil Module come in the All-in-One Pack.
