What the Waydoo app does
The Waydoo app is the companion app for the Flyer EVO, free for iOS and Android. It pairs with the board and does three jobs: it keeps your ride and track history, it works with the EVO's built-in GPS features, and it manages firmware when an update is actually needed. None of it is required to simply go riding; the board and the hand remote handle a normal session on their own.
That last point is worth underlining, because new owners sometimes assume the app is a gatekeeper the way car apps have become. It is not. You can unbox an EVO, pair the remote and ride without ever installing it. The app earns its place over time: the ride history builds, the GPS features become familiar, and when a firmware update is eventually needed you already know the tool that handles it.
Flight Assist: what it is and who has it
Flight Assist uses sensors and gyroscope inputs to help stabilise lift and assist throttle control while you are flying, which shortens the learning curve considerably. It is a feature of specific configurations, not of every EVO.

On the configurations that carry it, Flight Assist toggles on or off. Beginners usually leave it on while learning; experienced riders switch it off for full manual control and a more engaged ride. The Max Plus makes the point well: it is the easiest EVO to learn on, yet it reaches 45 km/h with the assist off, which leaves plenty of room to grow into. If that support matters for your learning phase, choose the configuration accordingly, because it cannot be added to a Lite later.
Ride data, GPS and the remote
During a session the remote shows your live ride information; afterwards the app holds the longer record, with ride and track data pulled from the board. The EVO's built-in GPS works through the app as well. Firmware: when to update and when to leave it alone
The support team's position is simple and worth repeating: update firmware to fix an actual software problem, not for its own sake. A board that works fine can be left alone. This runs against the update-everything habit most of us have from phones, and it exists for a good reason: on a machine you ride, predictable behaviour you know beats a version number you do not need. When an update is needed, the app walks you through connecting your phone to the board and updating each component in turn, and the process rewards patience, so give it a stable connection and let each step finish before moving on.
